Homegrown logistics service provider Delhivery has recently inaugurated an all-women hub in Sikar, Rajasthan, marking another step towards the company’s goal of enhancing women’s participation and empowerment in the logistics sector. The entire operation of this hub will be managed by female staff.
Suraj Saharan, Chief People Officer and Co-founder at Delhivery stated in a company release, “This is yet another step towards our objective of growing female participation in our industry. Delhivery is proud of what our women colleagues can accomplish when given the right platform.”
He further highlighted the positive impact of women in the workforce, noting their contribution to reducing attrition and absenteeism, along with directly enhancing efficiency and productivity. Saharan also underscored the company’s dedication to providing a supportive and secure work environment, offering skills training, and implementing appropriate HR policies to enable their female colleagues to thrive.
The company has witnessed a significant rise in the recruitment of women over the past year, with their headcount increasing by approximately 60% in FY24 compared to around 15% in FY23.
At the Sikar hub, women will oversee all functions, including administration, operations, and security. Delhivery also provides diverse opportunities for women in non-traditional roles such as operating battery-operated pallet trucks (BOPTs) and handling truck loading and unloading.
This initiative follows the successful expansion of women’s participation at Delhivery’s gateways in Tauru (Haryana), Bhiwandi (Mumbai), and other locations across India. Women already constitute 66% of the total workforce at the processing centre in Tauru. The company plans to introduce more such all-women hubs in the future.
