“Great opportunity for Singapore companies”, says Singapore High Commissioner on Assam’s multi-modal logistics park

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, scheduled for inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning, will host high-level delegations from several countries, including Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Bhutan, and Japan.

Ahead of the summit, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, expressed enthusiasm about the potential for Singaporean companies, particularly in the Jogighopa Multi-Modal Logistics ParkWong noted on X, “Team SG started the first day in Assam Advantage 2.0 with a briefing by NHIDC in Guwahati. Great opportunities for SG companies in the Jogighopa Multi-Modal Logistics park. Impressive developments.”

The Jogighopa facility is poised to become India’s first international multimodal logistics hub, expected to be operational in the coming months. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari called it a “game-changer for the Northeast” by utilizing the inland waterways terminal on the Brahmaputra River, Rupsi Airport, and the national highway network.

Spread over 300 acres with a capital outlay of Rs. 764 crore, the logistics park will have necessary facilities like warehouses, cold storage, customs clearance, etc. It will be connected to Guwahati through a four-lane road and to the Inland Waterways Terminal via a three-kilometer rail link.

The summit will have 20 thematic sessions spanning different sectors such as healthcare, tourism, and startups, and will allow for B2B and B2G meetings to promote strategic partnerships between business leaders and investors.
