The Union Cabinet has approved the Manikpur – Iradatganj 3rd Rail Line project, a strategic move aimed at improving freight capacity and reducing logistics costs. This project, which includes the construction of a rail flyover between Lohgara and Madaraha, will facilitate additional freight loading, enhancing the efficiency of the rail network.

Key Details of the Project
  • Estimated Cost: Rs 1507 crore+
  • Route Length: 84.4 km
  • Track Length: 100.19 km
  • States Covered: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh

The new rail line is set to significantly reduce congestion, addressing key operational challenges on the route. With the installation of the flyover and expanded track capacity, freight detention time is expected to decrease from 141 minutes to just 30 minutes, resulting in faster and more efficient transportation of goods.

The project will also enhance connectivity to 534 villages, benefiting approximately 8 lakh people by improving access to vital services and markets.

This move aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand India’s rail infrastructure, making it more conducive to economic growth by lowering logistics costs and boosting trade potential. The Manikpur – Iradatganj rail line is expected to have a long-term positive impact on the region’s economy, fostering better connectivity and boosting the local economy.
