FedEx Express has announced a major air network expansion aimed at enhancing South India’s connectivity with global markets. The launch of five new flights promises faster access to critical imports from the Asia-Pacific region and increased export capacity to Europe and the USA, reinforcing FedEx’s role as a catalyst for global trade.
“India is one of the most exciting growth stories in the world and a key market for FedEx,” said Richard W. Smith, COO, International, and CEO of FedEx Airline. “This strategic expansion strengthens our commitment to connecting South India’s thriving businesses to global opportunities.”
South India, known for its robust manufacturing base in electronics, automotive, and healthcare, is poised to benefit significantly from this move. “By addressing the region’s growing logistics needs, these new flights enhance time-sensitive delivery and position South India as a global manufacturing and export hub,” said Kami Viswanathan, President of Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa at FedEx.
The new service includes a direct connection from Guangzhou to Bengaluru, cutting transit times in the region by up to one business day. With 22 weekly flights now operating to and from Bengaluru, the expansion streamlines the movement of critical imports like lithium-ion batteries and components, essential for industries such as automotive and electronics. Simultaneously, it boosts export capacity for healthcare, engineering, automotive, and e-commerce sectors, ensuring efficient access to global markets.
FedEx continues to leverage its digital ecosystem to meet India’s growing trade demands. Solutions like the FedEx Import Tool simplify import processes, while the FedEx Delivery Manager enhances delivery customization for a superior customer experience. The company’s expanded Delhi Gateway Hub further strengthens international shipping infrastructure, enabling Indian businesses to scale globally with confidence.
With ongoing investments in technology and infrastructure, FedEx is committed to empowering India’s ambitions of becoming a global manufacturing and trade leader.
