Madurai railway division commenced container train traffic from its Gangaikondan yard on Thursday, loading solar panels from Tata Power Solar Limited based in Gangaikondan Industrial Estate, Tirunelveli. The train left Gangaikondan station on Thursday night for Bengaluru.
Officials called it a milestone for the division since it will significantly help them achieve the annual freight loading target of 3.410 million tonnes for 2024–25 fiscal. The leading logistical provider TCI CONCOR Multimodal Solutions Pvt Ltd will work with Southern Railway for transporting solar panels to places like Deshnok, Nagalapalle, Indore, Ludhiana and Lakholi in a more efficient, cost-effective and environment friendly way.
The company’s plant is located 3.5 km from Gangaikondan station. The new traffic will enhance connectivity between the region and other parts of the country, facilitating trade and commerce, the statement said
